The Challenge
Tianjin University needed to furnish one thousand dormitory rooms — beds, nightstands, and wardrobes — within one and a half months. Despite a reasonable timeline and a clear brief, the project had stalled. No design firm was willing to take it on. The project was too early-stage, the design direction undefined, and most companies were unwilling to invest the effort required for an undefined brief.
The university had also approached several integrated contracting firms in China, only to discover that their factory claims were exaggerated. Photographs of workshops that belonged to other companies, production spaces that turned out to be rented shells — the pattern was familiar, and trust had been badly damaged. Compounding everything was a persistent communication gap: factory representatives simply could not grasp the nuanced requirements of the project. Specifications were misunderstood. Questions went unanswered. The procurement process had come to a standstill.
What We Did
Within hours of receiving the inquiry, we initiated direct, detailed communication with the university’s procurement and facilities teams. We did not wait for them to produce complete specifications. We asked precise questions — every dimension, every material preference, every functional requirement, clarified down to the millimeter. We then committed to full, free-of-charge design services. Our team developed complete spatial layouts and detailed product structures for every dormitory room type, with 3D renderings showing exactly how the finished spaces would look. The design balanced modern aesthetics with practical student living — clean lines, durable finishes, and space-efficient configurations that made each room feel open and functional.
To rebuild trust after previous suppliers had misled the university, we invited their team to conduct a 24-hour virtual factory inspection — live, unedited, streamed at any hour they chose. We submitted government-certified documentation in full: business licenses, factory ownership deeds, export records, and employee credentials. No rented workshops, no borrowed photographs. What they saw on screen was exactly what they would receive.
Throughout production, any issue or change received a formal response and solution within one hour. When the goods were ready, our own installation team traveled to Tianjin and completed every room on-site. The university did not have to manage a single tool.
